Is it the Ethereal drift of Ether, or the Kaleidoscopic Visions of Psilocybin?

Welcome to Hugo: The Etheromaniac - EP.

I typically refrain from challenging an artist's vision, particularly when presented with a fully realized project that possesses the hallmarks of a future cult classic, much like the undeniable “Etheromaniac EP”.

However, an unease persists as I immerse myself in this enchanting five-track journey.

An “Etheromaniac” is someone that is addicted to the use of ether - a drug whose effects are described as dissociative & are prone to put said user in a state of sedation.

But as I float from “corrupt angels sing” into the warm, enveloping embrace of “Bapapa!” - I can’t help but feel like this project may have been better suited with the title of “Psilocybin”.

“I feel you in everything.”

These intense croons, married with the soulful and fantastical soundscape of “Bapapa!” evoke a visceral experience that resonates deeply within the body.

It's an effect achieved not through ingesting a literal substance but through the sheer power of beautifully written music.

“I just circled Orion’s Belt in my Yaris hoping we link.”

Sonically - I cannot help but feel like I am floating on Goku’s nimbus through the rose-tinted skies captured beautifully on this project’s artwork.

As I reach the end of this brief but immersive journey with the title track, “Etheromania” a sense of fulfilment washes over me.

Earldridge & iam6teen have not merely created a collection of songs - they have constructed an entire universe.

This is an incredibly imaginative project, one that, while not necessarily groundbreaking, is compelling enough to add to your daily rotation.

The title track, “Etheromania” in particular, stands as a testament of Hugo’s artistic vision.

The 'Etheromaniac EP' succeeds in transporting the listener to a uniquely crafted and unforgettable sonic dimension.
