After what felt like weeks of watching the well-admired band consistently post amusing social media posts, with the trio constantly trying to find a mysterious lover named “Stacey”, Freddy L finally dropped their first hit of the year.

After a solid 2024, the Durban/Cape Town-based group kicked off their year with an exhilarating Pop-Rock anthem that told a story of journeying through a perplexing relationship.

The single wasted no time kicking off with upbeat guitar notes and stimulating drumming ringing over the instrumental, crafting the perfect environment for Freddy to flaunt his unique but powerful vocal melody.

“Stacey” had Freddy tell a somber tale of his ups and downs in a relationship, admitting the reasons for his foolish behavior, with the hopes of Stacey going back on her decision on leaving the relationship.

The chorus for this track was fantastic to listen to, having Freddy loudly confess his love for Stacey over the raging guitars, perfectly provided by Claus, while Reece controlled the flow of the track with his drumming talents.

With the band now being based in Cape Town, this is massive for the Mother City. I cannot wait to hear what else they have in store for us eager fans, and it’s even more exciting, knowing that we’ll be able to witness their art more frequently with their live shows expected to happen in the city.
