Kearne Dragon goes off on his “Summer | Pack” EP

The Eastern Cape virtuoso, Kearne Dragon, has been on one hell of a run lately, recently releasing his thrilling EP “Summer | Pack” following his run of singles “Ri Ri” and “Ruin, P2” that released earlier this year.

The talented lyricist took this project as his moment to display why he’s projected as the next big thing to come out of the province, showcasing his stimulating lyrical abilities over some of the most absorbing beats.

The opening track, titled “Back and Forth”, had the lyricist take on a simplistic Boom-Bap beat, narrating his experiences as a young man living it up with his loved one, talking about the hardships he’s had to endure being with her while also appreciating the positive moments he was fortunate enough to experience. The beat switch was also a sick moment on the joint.

Track two, titled “Yacht!!!” was definitely our favourite song on the project, with Dragon spitting his jovial bars over an exciting beat that utilized heavy 808s, loud snares, and a beautiful sample that meandered over the track. You could tell Kearne had a blast crafting this tune.

“Dough” took a spin on things, having the talented musician express his need for money to acquire everything he desires. We loved his verse when he whispered in our ear, emphasizing his need for coin. The beat was also a vibe, using modern trap sounds to create a menacing atmosphere.

This EP showcased just how talented of an artist Kearne really is, displaying his versatility on different styles of Hip-Hop sounds and how easily adaptable he is to each style.
