How Silent Ivy Used “iii” To Air His Honest Thoughts

SILENT IVY is a true poet. Having recently released his three-track bundle, titled “iii”, the Capetonian wordsmith did an impeccable job at revealing the truest thoughts that have come across his mind.

“I Should Know Better” was the first track off the bundle, having IVY tell a compelling story of a potential lover, confessing his attraction towards a girl. He explains how he’s willing to do whatever it takes to make sure she feels loved, even stating he’d patiently be waiting for her, even though she’s already in a relationship. A situation many of us seem to find ourselves in.

The second track, titled “Maybe Then”, had the poet unveil his struggles of being in a fumbling relationship. As much as he claims he tried his best, he’d eventually end up disappointed, wondering what may have changed if he had the ability to trust someone. IVY used this track to reflect on himself, pointing out the negative side of him that he just can’t seem to fix. A factor that eventually harms the relationships he's built.

“The track “Acceptance” closed off the bundle, having IVY finally come to the realisation that it really is the conclusion of a relationship, a truth he never imagined would be possible. He admits it may be the best for both parties, but the realisation still troubles him, admitting that in the end, it’s only him who harms everyone in his life.

Honestly, this is just a brief summary of IVY’s story. If you listen to it yourself, you’ll find how much deeper he gets about his thoughts. This was a heavy tape to experience, making us as the listener feel like some sort of therapist, listening to IVY vent about his honest feelings.

But that’s exactly why we adored this release. IVY’s performance on this bundle was phenomenal, easily welcoming us into his world and guiding us on a journey of his everyday experiences.

The instrumentals were a joy to listen to, having smooth Jazzy elements wonder over IVY’s performance. Nothing too hectic, just tranquil sounds. Credit must be given to Jarry Pitboi and Kyle Pieterse for their production efforts.

Check out the release, available on streaming platforms.
