tasha hendrix finally drops “waves”- a prelude to her debut album
This year is expected to be a massive one for the rising R&B singer, Tasha HendrixX, after she announced that she’d be releasing her debut sophomore album titled “If I’m really being Honest” scheduled for release at the end of this month.
The best way to create any kind of buzz for any release is to obviously give the fans a little sneak peek into what to expect, and her newest release titled “Waves” gave anticipating fans an idea of what kind of package we will be receiving.
This track talks on Tasha’s struggle through a period of time in her life where she faced hardships in a failing relationship. A tough track for any listener going through a heartbreak of their own.
She explains why her demeanour has changed and what caused this energy shift, stating that the former love in her life never showed her the truest form of love. It’s in her lines when she sings “why is it so hard for you to show you care” that we really get an understanding of what’s caused her to develop this state of mind.
This is the first minute of the track, so we already have an idea of what kind of song we’re getting into, and the rest of the track has Tasha delve further into her strenuous efforts to understand how and why it all went wrong for her.
In conclusion, this song conveys a message on one’s experiences through the ups and downs of one’s relationship, comparing this type of situation to the motion of waves in the ocean (hence the title of the track).
Even the background audio of the song mirrors the movement of waves, having a meandering sound hover above the heavy 808s, creating a subtle yet haunting atmosphere, which we thought was a brilliant touch.
This was a great joint to listen to and we can’t wait to hear some more sombre R&B music from the rising Tshwane vocalist.
