ZRi has dropped yet another body of work within the space of just five months, having released his EP “SANGO” in the middle of January.

“THANK GOD FOR THE SUN” sees the young musician from Pretoria take his next giant step into amplifying his presence in the SA music world and being taken seriously as the next leading man in Mzansi.

With a track list consisting of 17 songs with a reasonable run-time of 39 minutes, this body of work exhibits how ZRi has evolved his sound over time, perfecting his style of combining his off-pitch vocal performances (don’t worry, it sounds great when you actually listen to it) with his absorbing rapping abilities, being able to tell a story with ease.

ZRi uses this project to speak on a lot of situations he’s come to face throughout his recent growth as a person, touching on moments like heartbreak, his growth from the streets, his deepest and darkest thoughts about finding himself, and more topics that many young South Africans face in this period of time.

The beat selection for this project is definitely a highlight too, creating a soft tonal atmosphere with light kicks and 808s and blissful background noises that encapsulates what his sound is all about, crafting his own lane in the music world.

Additionally, every feature that aided him had decent performances with the likes of Roho, The Big Hash, Michael Tuohy, and more names all putting in a hard shift.

Tracks like “DARK DAZE”, “THE BOY FROM THE SUN”, and “ON MY OWN” were our standout that tracks that we’ll definitely be returning to for those slow summer days by the pool.

Overall, this was a brilliant attempt from the rising virtuoso from Pretoria and it’s crazy to think that after many years of listening to projects and singles coming from ZRi, this one may be his finest work and his first steps into considering his name as one of the big boys in SA Hip-Hop.
