Mila Smith Kicks Off Her Year With “Stranger”

The South African princess of Pop, Mila Smith, wasted no time blessing fans with new music, releasing her latest banger of a single, titled “Stranger”.

The Capetonian starlet had what we believed to be a fantastic 2024, and it only made sense for her to continue elevating her wave. This brilliant release from her did just that while also hinting at what more we could expect for the rest of the year from the talented songbird.

The second I pressed play on the track, I just knew I was in for a good ride. The instrumental instantly had me feeling enamoured, with an upbeat tempo being guided by mellow guitar notes before her vocals kicked in.

Mila used this track to tell a tale of many wonders with a lover, questioning how her former lover has adjusted to life in a whole new city across the world while also admitting her annoyance with the lack of communication between the two over a period of time.

I loved the line she sang when she states “absence makes the heart grow fonder” really making the listener understand the frustrations she’s had to endure with being in this sort of position. That’s when the lovely hook follows as she begs for a promise that they’ll eventually be able to see each other at a later time without turning into eventual strangers.

The rest of the track carries this narrative, and what a joy it was to experience. I really enjoyed Mila’s performance on the track, flaunting her immense vocal abilities, especially at the climax of the track as she goes all out, beautifully screaming her last verse before ending the stunning single.
