After dropping one of my favourite projects of 2024, Thabo And The Crows wasted no time kicking off their year with their beautiful yet peculiar album, titled “This is The Medicine”.

This project had the four-piece Capetonian band showcase different narratives over enchanting instrumentals, pushing the Indie Rock genre to a higher level, displaying moments of raw emotions over impeccable performances and captivating sounds.

What I adored the most about this project was Thabo’s attempt at gifting listeners with a mixed bag of multiple sounds, never sticking to one genre, but always switching it up as I progressed through the tape.

This nine-track album had Thabo gather up the boys to explore different but intriguing environments, tackling different genres like the upbeat Rock track, “Medicine Man”, to sultry slow Jazz, with the track “Run Cowboy Run” alongside the talented aimee harriet”, to a more hardcore Rock sound on the track “Bietjie Vreemd” alongside Vir Nou Net Mage.

The group's performance was top-notch, never failing to impress me with how entertaining they made my listening experience. The further I continued my journey on the album, the more amused I’d get from simply enjoying every track.

This project really displayed moments of deep emotions while also having the gifted musician flaunt his unique talent of being multilingual and expressing his knowledge of different languages through his music. There aren’t many in the scene able to accomplish that.

Check out the new project, now available on multiple streaming platforms.
