A letter from vuyo

A year after picking up my first camera, I see the world differently. VERVE is an undeniably huge part of that.

I met Jeriah and Ntsika in August of 2024. It was during a time when I felt directionless. Photography was my comfort, but I had met few people who shared the same passion for raw creativity. I felt a bit isolated.

That all changed when I heard about what they were doing with VERVE. I shot a few pictures of them throughout the night as they explained the vision: bringing together the culture, being a voice for the voiceless, and ensuring nobody feels left alone. I started realising that there was so much more to this scene than met the eye. I've met so many like minded people, and felt warm in so many new spaces. None of that would be possible without them, without VERVE.

That's why when Jeriah asked me to join the team, I didn't hesitate to say yes. I love VERVE for the exposure it can bring for those isolated from the scene, thinking there's nobody to hear their voice or no interest in seeing their work. I love it for its ability to be a catalyst for those that are yet to discover their talent. Most of all, I love that the team at VERVE strive everyday to embody the word's definiton, the spirit and enthusiasm which animates artistic composition or performance.

I think there's a little bit of VERVE in us all, and I want everyone to learn that through my work with the team. I'm super excited to embark on this journey, and grateful for the opportunity.

Love, Vuyo
